Technology has come a long way in the last decade, and is affecting how we use simple objects. Ceiling fans are no exception. New innovations have allowed us to operate our ceiling fans on an app with our mobile phone using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. You no longer have to use the pull chains to set your fan speed or turn off and on the light.
Smart fans allow you to pair with the smart home tech you know and love. Including Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Samsung Smart things and Ecobee. Having a smart home hub allows you to control your ceiling fan using auditory prompting. There is nothing like laying in a comfortable bed at night, but you are hot and being able to say, “Hey Google, Turn on my ceiling fan on to medium speed”
Smart fans are able to offer a variety of different options depending on the manufacture. Some of these new features are:
Sleep Timers: Set your fan and light to turn off and one with specific timers in your app
Scheduling: Have your Fan and light turn off at a precise schedule
Group Functions: If you have more then 1 ceiling fan in your house you are able to set them up for synchronized operation through your app
Temperature control*: Depending on the manufacture some smart fans will work with your smart home thermostat and automatically adjust to keep your house with the correct fan speeds.
Breeze mode: where the fan is programed to mimic the natural ebb and flow of the winds in nature by fluctuating the fans speed. This helps to reduce your houses heating and cooling costs
Adaptive Learning: this allows the application for your smart fan to learn your daily and weekly habits and automatically recommend a schedule for your fan.
Some Manufactures offering smart fans are Modern Forms Lighting and Hinkley Ceiling Fans. If you are interested in getting more information in regards to Smart Fans please feel free to contact us, and we would be more then happy to assist you.
